HOW TO COVER A DAMP STAIN
According to the English Housing Survey, around 904,000 homes in England had damp problems in 2021 – meaning it’s a more common issue than some might think. Condensation is the most common cause of damp in many houses, particularly in bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchens. However, it can be treated without having to call in professionals. Read on to learn how you can cover a damp stain using Thompson’s One Coat Damp Seal.

Before applying our One Coat Damp Seal, remove any mould and fix the source of the damp issue. We recommend removing mould using a mould killer to ensure the best results – as if mould is present, it will simply grow through the seal and any paint applied to the surface. The seal can be applied onto a damp surface; however, it is important to ventilate the room and open doors and windows to make sure it is not dripping wet. It is also important to remove any wallpaper or flaking paint with a damp cloth and fill in any cracks or holes in the surface if needed.
Next, apply Thompson’s One Coat Damp Seal with a brush or roller over the affected area, plus the space 30cm around it. Always allow the seal to dry for four hours before decorating over the top.
